The "Buddhist Circuit" in India is a popular pilgrimage route that includes several significant Buddhist sites associated with the life of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. This circuit takes travelers to various places in India that played a crucial role in the Buddha's life, from his birth to his enlightenment and subsequent teachings. Some of the key sites included in the Buddhist Circuit are.

1.      Lumbini, Nepal: Lumbini is the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, located just across the border in Nepal. The sacred garden in Lumbini features a stone marker indicating the exact spot where Buddha was born.

2.      Bodh Gaya, Bihar: Bodh Gaya is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites. It is where Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. The Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a significant place for meditation and reflection.

3.      Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh: Sarnath is where the Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment in Bodh Gaya. It is an important site for Buddhist teachings and also home to several stupas and monasteries.

4.      Shravasti, Uttar Pradesh: Shravasti is associated with many events from Buddha's life and is said to be where he performed various miracles. Jetavana Monastery is a prominent site in Shravasti.

5.      Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh: Kushinagar is where the Buddha passed away (attained Parinirvana). The Mahaparinirvana Temple in Kushinagar marks the spot of his final moments.

6.      Rajgir and Nalanda, Bihar: Rajgir was an important place for Buddha's teachings, and Nalanda was home to the ancient Nalanda University, where Buddhist philosophy and scriptures were studied.

7.      Vaishali, Bihar: Vaishali is another significant site associated with Buddha's life and teachings, and it has several important monuments and stupas.

The Buddhist Circuit in India is not only of religious significance but also of historical and cultural importance. It attracts Buddhist pilgrims and tourists from around the world who come to explore the rich heritage of Buddhism in India and pay their respects at these sacred sites.
